Paper Plane Dash
A fast tube-flying dash drawn in pencil on black construction paper. Your paper airplane flies down a round tube on its own, and you touch or drag on the side of the tube you want to be on: the plane flies round to it the short way, up the sides, over the top and back down, keeping its belly to the wall the whole way. The junk sits on the inside of the tube: crumpled paper balls in every construction-paper colour, erasers, pencil stubs, two-spot-wide rulers and inky blots. Fly round them, fly through the stars, and when a paper ring comes down the tube, get into its gap to fly through for 50 points. Every ten stars start Dart Mode, when your plane fires paper darts that pop everything straight ahead. Catch a magnet to pull stars in, a shield for one free bump, a boost to smash straight through, or a x2 for double points. Every 600 metres turns to a new sector page, each faster than the last, and the stars you collect unlock nine more planes, all real folds: the Basic Glider, Bulldog Dart, Nakamura Lock, Harrier, Hammerhead, Flying Wing, Canard, Stunt Plane and the blue-and-gold Delta Wing.
- Arcade
- Touch to fly round the tube
- Paper rings with gaps
- 10 real paper airplane folds
- 10 sector pages, then endless
- Saves your best score
How to play
- Your paper airplane flies down the tube on its own and gets faster with every sector page.
- Touch or drag on the side of the tube you want to be on. The plane flies round the inside of the tube to that spot the short way, up the sides, over the top and back, keeping its belly to the wall.
- Pick your plane on the start card. The Classic Dart is free, and the stars you collect add up between runs to unlock the Basic Glider, Bulldog Dart, Nakamura Lock, Harrier, Hammerhead, Flying Wing, Canard, Stunt Plane and, last of all, the blue-and-gold Delta Wing.
- Dodge crumpled paper, erasers, pencil stubs and paint blobs. Rulers and ink blots are two spots wide. The blue line and the dashed blue arc show your spot; they turn red when something is lined up with you.
- Paper rings come down the tube with one gap. Fly round into the gap to pass through for 50 points. Hit the ring and your plane crumples.
- Grab gold stars for 10 points each. Every 10 stars fills the meter and starts Dart Mode: for 8 seconds your plane fires paper darts that pop everything straight ahead for 25 points each.
- Power-ups: the magnet pulls stars to you, the shield gives you one free bump, the boost smashes through everything (rings too) for 3 seconds, and x2 doubles your points for 10 seconds.
- Every 600 metres is a new sector page, with a 100 point bonus. After sector 10, the Ink Vortex, it keeps going faster and faster.
Controls
- Phone or tablet: touch or drag anywhere on the tube and the plane flies round to that side. Keep your finger down and slide it to steer.
- Computer: hold the left or right arrow key (or A and D) to fly round the tube, Up and Down to go to the top or bottom, P or Esc to pause.
- Pause stops the action, and the Sound button turns sound effects on or off.
Tips
- Watch the far end of the tube. Rings show up as a coloured circle long before they arrive, so head for the gap early.
- Lines of stars sit in a safe spot, and a ring's stars sit in its gap. Follow them.
- The plane always takes the short way round, so a spot straight across the tube is the longest trip. Start moving early.
- Dart Mode pops things straight ahead only, so line up with the busiest column while it lasts.
- A boost makes you invincible and even smashes rings for 50 points, so spin into the junk on purpose.
- Stars count toward new planes even on a short run, so grab every line of them you can.
About Paper Plane Dash
Paper Plane Dash is an original Sketchpad Arcade game, not a twin of anything on our sister site. Your paper airplane flies down the inside of a round tube drawn on black construction paper, and you touch the side of the tube you want to be on. The plane rolls round to it the short way, belly to the wall, dodging crumpled paper balls, erasers, rulers and ink blots.
Every plane you can unlock is a real fold you could make at a desk, from the Basic Glider and Bulldog Dart to the Nakamura Lock, Harrier, Hammerhead and Delta Wing. Stars unlock them, rings and Dart Mode keep a good run exciting, and every 600 metres turns to a faster sector page.
